Hasson's Hot Tomato Relish!Hasson's Hot Tomato Relish! Makes about 10 medium sized glass jars. In a large stockpot place: 6 LB ripe Tomatoes peeled (place tomatoes in hot boiling water for a moment and they will peel easily) Dice 8 white large onions Dice peeled tomatoes, mix with onions and sprinkle with 1 handful of salt, leave overnight Pour off the liquid the next day. Add 4 cups malt vinegar 2 LB white sugar 2 Tablespoon of Hot Curry Powder 1 Dessertspoon of mustard powder 10 Fresh Red Chillies, including seeds! 1 teaspoon ground black pepper 1 teaspoon Cloves Bring to boil then simmer until tender for approximately 1 hour, leave lid off. Thicken with 4 large tablespoons of flour mixed with cold malt vinegar Boil slowly for 10 mins Put in sterilised jars, cool then screw tops on. |
