THINGS TO DO IN THE VEGGIE PATCH
- Veges to plant: Broccoli, brussel sprouts, cabbage, carrots, cauliflower, onions, peas, silver beet and spinach.
- Protect crops from slugs and snails with Yates Baysol.
- Liquid feed cabbage, cauliflower and brussel sprouts as they reach maturity. This will increase their size and maintain good health.
- Build up soil structure by digging in Kings Organic Compost, General Garden Fertiliser and Pelletised sheep Manure.
THINGS TO DO IN THE FLOWER GARDEN
- Flowers to plant: Alyssum, Cineraria, Nemesia, Pansy, Polyanthus, Primula, Stock and other winter favourites.
- Lift Dahlia Tubers and store in a dry place. It is safe to divide and replant perennials. Cut Back daisies, geraniums and others that have finished flowering.
- Continue to plant Lilies. Choose from our extensive range.
- Control slugs and snails with Yates Baysol.
AND SHRUBS
- New seasons roses are here this month. Prepare the soil with Kings Organic Compost.
- Camellias are available in store for planting now.
- Spray roses and other deciduous trees and shrub with Yates Lime Sulphur, followed by Yates Champ Dp and Conqueror Spraying Oil 2-3 weeks later. Prune spindly growth on hydrangeas back to strong shoots.
THINGS TO DO IN THE FRUIT GARDEN
- Feed your citrus trees with Kings Citrus tree Fertiliser as they make prolific now.
- Pip and stone fruit trees arrive this month. Apples, pears, peaches, plums, nectarines. Bare root, single grafted trees, plus selected double grafted trees. Prepare the soil now with Kings Organic Compost and Kings 24 Plus 2 year slow release fertiliser.
- Prune existing fruit trees, sealing the cuts with pruning paste. Clean these trees up with Yates Champion Copper and Conqueror Spraying Oil 2-4weeks later.
- Prepare beds now in anticipation of new seasons Strawberries
GENERAL INFORMATION
- Feed existing lawns and treat for moss. Stake all new fruit trees to help them establish strong root systems.
- Protect sensitive tropicals with Frost Cloth.
