Grape - Schuyler
This vigourous vine produces an abundance of very sweet and delightfully tasty black table grape with a slight currant flavour. Early season variety, fruti usually ripens late February - March.
Deciduous woody vines known to live for 70 years and are moderately fast growing. Large deeply lobed leaves. Very Hardy.
Self-fertile. Bunches of small green flowers borne on current seasons growth. Adverse conditions at time of flowering (cold and wind) could result in low fruit numbers or dropped fruit.
Grows best in full sun. Prefers fertile free-draining soil rich in organic matter.
Grapes need pruning more than any other fruiting species. Irregular or poor crops will be produced if not pruned & trained. Annual pruning before the leaves emerge usually in the winter.
