Height & Spread
Tall climber 5-6 metres high and 2-3 metres across.
Sow anytime indoors. Soak seed overnight. Spread seed between layers of wet paper towel. Seal in a plastic bag with plenty of air space. Refrigerate for 2 weeks. Keep moist.
Where to sow
Best sown into a tray of quality seed raising mix.
Where to grow
In any good well drained soil. Provide shade to the root. Best grown over a trellis or similar support.
Cover with a fine mix to a depth of 1/2cm.
Cover with plastic to conserve moisture. Remove plastic often to allow ventilation. Keep moist throughout the germination period. As seedlings grow, provide increasing quantities of light and fresh air.
A light trim after flowering is beneficial.
New Zealand natves often take a little while to germinate. Please be patient, they are worth the wait!
