Top Plants for the Festive Season

07 Dec, 2021

With Christmas just around the corner, now is the perfect time to bring in a touch of natural beauty and colour with some of our favourite festive plants. Here are our top picks for Christmas for 2021:

Fill your home with Christmas colour this year with the classic Poinsettia. They can be added to the dining room table or living room for a pop of festive colour.

Potted Christmas lilies

White Christmas lilies bring a beautiful scent into the home, and can be re-potted into the garden or pots for annual blooms. If anyone in the family has allergies, pluck the anthers off to dispose of the pollen.

A popular gift for any time of year, Moth orchids (aka Phalaenopsis) are a beautiful, easy-care plant that provide long-lasting blooms. Their flowers last for months at a time, bringing a touch of colour into any area of your home.

Lucky Bamboo

Lucky bamboo is a lush, easy-care plant that is great as a living gift for friends and family. Tie red and gold ribbon to the bamboo stalks as they grow to add colour to your dining room table or benchtop.

Christmas Trees

Living Christmas trees can give you the beautiful scent of pine, without the need to dispose of a cut pine tree. They can live in the pot for up to two years before being planted out in the garden and come in a variety of different sizes to suit any space in your home.

Patio Colour

Add colour to the entrance of your home or your deck with our selection of pre-planted Patio Botanics. Want to make your own? Use Kings Container Mix or Pot Power and plant out petunias, cosmos, mandevilla, tropical impatiens, hibiscus, and star jasmine for a beautiful display.

Potted hippeastrum are a cheap and easy way to add colour to your house this Christmas. Pop them inside the entrance of your home, in the kitchen or in the bathroom! Once they finish flowering, replant them into a larger pot in the garden for blooms next December.

Hanging Baskets

If you have a balcony, deck, or pergola, try your hand at hanging baskets this year. Use Kings Container Mix and plant out red, white, and yellow flowers, including petunias, bedding dahlias, salvia, alyssum, gazania, bacopa, and daisy chrysanthemums for stunning hanging baskets.

Ready-to-go terrariums are available instore! They come in dry varieties (cacti, succulents – best for beginners), and wet varieties (baby house plants, ferns, and moss – better for an ‘over waterer’).
